Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new.

I’ve known those words in the photo for some time. But, this morning, when I saw that quote again, written in red and green colours on a cardboard paper, it did two things to me:

First, it was a reminder that mistakes are inevitable.

And, secondly, it made me recognise that, for a while now, I’ve been consumed with the need to live a life without mistakes. You know, life happens and one’s heart shuts out many things—more like a defense mechanism; a protection. As much as it’s not entirely a bad thing to be conscious about making mistakes, it becomes a thing to worry about when that need won’t allow you to do the things your heart yearns for.

Although I know I’m still not ready, I’m now well aware that there’s hardly any growth without mistakes.

And just as I was instructed by Einstein’s words, I decided to leave these ones here—who knows who may find it helpful!

Have a great week ahead.

Stay aware and stay safe

“And how has your grades been?” I said. I thought I’d get any of the typical, one-word answers—since the question I’d asked was a mere follow-up to a greeting from a youngster. Instead, his response flung open the door to a bigger conversation.

“My grades have not been good,” the boy said. “But I know it would change very soon.”

I liked the optimism in his voice, so I asked, “So, what’s going to bring about the change?”

His response, however, was far from what I’d hoped to hear. “There’s a church my mum sometimes take us to. It was the pastor there who revealed it to us.”

“Did he mention how this turnaround would happen?”

“Yes,” the boy said. I noticed a look of excitement wash over his face. And there was an innocent glow in his eyes. “The pastor said I was supposed to be smart, excelling in every subject, even maths, as I have a bright star. But some wicked people have seen my brightness and they want to put out my light. The pastor said everything will return to normal through prayer and deliverance. He also gave my mum some anointing oil for me to use.”

“Any idea how much your mum paid for the oil?”

“I don’t know; she didn’t say.”

Maybe it’s just me, but anytime I hear a talk about such quick-fix miracles, a person not taking any responsibility for their issues, something usually goes off in me. Oh, yeah, I know there’s black power, and people do go diabolical just to bring others down, but I still believe there are logical explanations to some issues.

I tried to come easy with the next set of questions, so as not to get the boy feeling on edge—or, worse still, defensive. I made sure the questions appeared unrelated to our earlier tête-à-tête.

“Do you have a personal timetable?”

He shook his head, indicating a ‘No’.

“Normally, how often do you get to read or at least go through your notes?”

“Sometimes.”

“Well, it’s common these days. So, like most of your mates, I guess you may have a favourite social media platform . . . what’s yours?” I asked, not knowing if he even had a mobile phone.

“Facebook,” he said. Then he went on and on; a playful argument why it was the coolest app.

I smiled.

I need not ask how much time he spent chatting. It seemed obvious.

I shared this knowing this season is ripe for charlatans to practice their trade, preying on people’s ignorance. As much as faith may be needful, we must not fail to do the right things.

Do you that Bitterkola can neutralise snake or scorpion bite.

The most important thing to do after a bite from a poisonous animal is to focus on getting the venom out of your veins/ body system because the venom is very dangerous to the body and can also lead to death.

In the olden days, Bitter kola is a very potent antidote used in neutralizing poison. Bitter kola can neutralize scorpion and snake venom. One seed of bitter kola is normally given to anyone who is bitten by a poisonous snake to chew and swallow and in few minutes after eating, it neutralises the whole poison and bring a huge relief to the sufferer.

You can also use bitter kola to keep away snakes from your home and immediate sorroundings by throwing the seed to different corners of the house and compounds. Bitter kola can also be grinded in a powderly form and sprayed anywhere you think snakes passes and any snakes that crosses it dies instantly.

Bitter kola can also be used to induce vomiting in children who ate or swallowed poisonous substances like kerosene, detergents, soaps etc. Blend one or two seeds of bitter kola, add few drops of water to form a very light syrup. Allow the child to drink it, it will induce vomiting of all those poisonous substances in few minutes. Bitter kola can also be cut into tiny pieces and soaked in water. Allow to ferment for few days and start drinking every morning to flush out toxins from the body system.

Note: After using bitter kola in neutralizing poisonous venom from bites and expelling toxins swallowed by children, there is still need to visit a medical facility for a proper check up.

How to produce liquid soap

Use this formula to produce 10 liters of quality liquid soap; you can actually get up

to 13 liters with this formula. I will tell you why later. Make sure you follow each

step carefully and put it to practice.

*Chemicals Required* *Quantity Price*

1. Natrosol 1/16 kg N350

2. Caustic Soda 1/16 kg N100

3. Soda Ash 1/4 kg N400

4. STPP 1/8 kg N100

5. Sulphonic 1/2 liters N450

6. Perfume 30ml (use lemon for this production)

7. Colour 1 small wrap N50

8. Formalin (preservative) 20ml N10

*Total #1460*

*PROCEDURE*

STEP 1: Pour 1/16kg natrosol to 7 litres of water and stir for 15 minutes.

REMEMBER TO CONTINUE TO STIR THE NATROSOL, IT WILL FORM

LUMPS IF YOU LEAVE IT UNSTIRRED TO ATTEND TO OTHER THINGS.

Just keep stirring it intermittently; please take this caution very serious to avoid

lumps in your liquid soap.

STEP 2: Mix the caustic soda powder 1/16 kg and 1/4kg soda ash and also 1/8

STPP powder together.

NEXT STEP: soak the mixed powder in 3 litres of water in a separate bowl and

stir well for 10 minutes to dissolve.

STEP 3: Get a big bucket and pour your 1/2 liter of sulphonic into it

STEP 4: Add 1½ liters of the mixture of caustic soda, soda ash and STPP in step

2 to the natrosol solution and stir well for 15 minutes. You will see it start to

thicken up

STEP 5: Pour the remaining 1½ liters of caustic soda, soda ash and STPP

solution to the sulphonic in the bucket and stir gently for 2 minutes. You will see

the chemical reaction taking place. Sulphonic will be swelling up

STEP 6: Add the mixed sulphonic into the mixed natrosol and stir it well for 20

minutes to blend well.

STEP 7: You can now mix your color of choice with small water and add it into

the solution gradually and stir well.

Watch out so you don’t add too much color, a little quantity once it blends is best.

TIP: Always mix your color in water before adding to your soap, don’t add direct

to the soap.

 As a beginner

I do mix all the powdered ingredients together together in one bowl and set aside, mix all the liquid ingredients, then add 1/2 of the water I want to use and mix very well

Then start adding the powered ingredients gradually and turning like when you are making swallow

After that, I will add little water to my color and add

 Add my perfume(Flavor)

Then add the remaining water and cover for few minutes for fermentation to take place

Note: You can add extra water if it’s too thick

And I do buy extra forming booster too

Soak your caustic soda in a water and let it dissolve, before adding to the liquid ingredients while mixing

5 signs of early pregnancy

The tell-tale sign of pregnancy, of course, is a missed period. But if you have an irregular period or pay little attention to the calendar, you might miss that obvious clue.

Early pregnancy signs often mimic pre-menstrual symptoms. A little cramping and breast tenderness, for example, are common. For some women, bleeding happens when the egg implants and might be mistaken for a light period.

But as your body ramps up on pregnancy hormones, you might also experience:

1.Scent repulsion.

2 .Food aversion.

3. Nausea: your stomach feels unsettled. You feel like to vomit or not to vomit.

4. Strong gag reflex: Does brushing your teeth make you want to vomit? In early pregnancy, your gag reflex can kick into overdrive leading to unexpected vomiting.

5. Always wants some sleep:  It’s Monday morning, and you’re already craving to return to sleep, or at least rest, seems to be on your agenda much more these days.

You can count on your health provider to:

1. Establish wellness care: Routine pelvic exams and Pap smears can keep you healthy.

2. Provide STD screenings: If you have a s*xually transmitted disease, like herpes, it can negatively affect pregnancy.

3. Regularize your period: You’ll have a better sense of when you’re ovulating (and when you’re pregnant) if your period comes on a more regular basis.

4. Uncover risks: Together with your doctor, you’ll get to the bottom of any inherited risks or other concerns that may be hiding in your family history.

5. Offer general advice: To ensure you’re healthy before and during pregnancy, your doctor can answer any questions related to women’s health, including questions about weight and nutrition.

List of foods to avoid if you are trying to conceive.

Sometimes you may fail to conceive when you expect it and you might think that you’re infertile. Infertility might not be the case but it depends with the type of foods you consume when you’re trying to get pregnant. Research has shown that there are certain foods that one should avoid when trying to conceive.

Here’s a list of the foods to avoid.

1. Soy-based foods

Soy-based foods are very delicious but studies show that they are not healthy especially when someone is trying to get pregnant. According to research, soy-based foods contain certain chemicals that functions the same as estrogen, which is a hormone that inhibits pregnancy. For you to conceive without problems, you should avoid these foods.

2. Peas

You might find it difficult to quit taking peas but you just have to do it if you want to conceive well. Nutritionists say that those who consume peas regularly experience low rate of conception. This is because peas contains certain Chemical compounds that can prevent the sperms from fertilising an egg hence preventing pregnancy. They act as natural contraceptives.

3. Eggs

Eggs are very nutritious but not healthy when trying to get pregnant. According to scientists, eating eggs which are not properly cooked or raw can increase your chances of being affected with virus called Salmonella which can affect the pregnancy.

4. Fish

No one would want to stop eating fish because of it’s delicious but it’s advisable to avoid it when trying to conceive. Nutritionists say that fish have high levels of mercury due to excess water pollution. You should eat salmon, shrimp or cod as an alternative.

5. Cheese

According to research, cheese made from unpasteurized milk or which is ripened without mould have chances of containing bacteria. These bacteria can infect pregnancy but if it’s a must for you eat cheese, you should cook them well before eating.

Most cancer symptoms you need to know according to medical practitioners.

Breast cancer is the most feared cancer among women. Before now, everybody used to think cancer was the greatest killer, until corona came calling. Most people used to regard diagnosis of cancer as a death certificate, until recent cancer research, stated otherwise.

As we know, women’s bodies are always changing. Sometimes changes that seem normal can be signs of cancer, though. All we need to do is to pay attention to your body so we can notice when something’s different, says Robyn Andersen, PhD, of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle.

WebMD, an authoritative collegiate magazine decided to list 15 symptoms we should watch for.

1. Changes in your skin.

• A new spot on your skin, or one that changes size, shape or colour, could be a sign of skin cancer.

• Another is a spot, that does not look the same as all the others on your body.

• If you have any unusual marks, let your doctor check your skin. He will do an examination and may remove a small piece(called biopsy), to take a closer look for cancer cells.

2. Persistent and nagging cough.

• If you do not smoke, there is very little chance a nagging cough is a sign of cancer. Usually, it is caused by post-nasal drip, asthma, acid reflux or an infection.

• But, if your cough does not go away, or you cough up blood – especially if you are a smoker – consult your doctor.

• He may test mucus from your lungs, or do a chest x-ray to check for lung cancer.

3. Changes in the breast.

• Most changes in the breasts are not cancer. It is still important though to consult your doctor about them, and have him check them out.

• Let him know about any lumps, nipples that turn inward or discharge, redness or thickening of the nipple or breast skin, skin dimpling or puckering or pain in your breasts. He will do an examination, and may suggest a mammogram, MRI or may be a biopsy.

4. Abdominal discomfort or bloating.

“Women are natural bloaters,” says Marleen Meyers, MD, an oncologist at NYU Langone Medical Center. “It’s OK to wait a week or two to see if it goes away.”

• You may have a full bloated feeling because of your diet or even stress. But if it does not get better, or if you also have fatigue, weight loss or bleeding, back pain, please let your doctor check you out.

• Constant bloating in women may be a sign of ovarian cancer.

• Your doctor can do a pelvic examination to look at the cervix.

5. Difficulty in urinating

• Many men have urinary problems as they get older, like the need to go more often, leaks, or a weak stream. Usually, these are signs of an enlarged prostrate, but they could also mean prostrate cancer.

• Consult your doctor for an examination, and may be, a special blood test called PSA test.

6. Swollen lymph nodes.

• you have these small bean-shaped glands in your neck, armpits, and other places in your body. When they are swollen, it often means you are fighting an infection, like bacteria, catarrh or sore throat.

• Some cancers, like lymphoma and leukaemia can also cause this kind of swelling.

• Consult your doctor to pinpoint the cause.

7. Bloody stool or urine.

• If you see blood in the toilet, it is a good idea to talk to your doctor.

Bloody stool is often from hemorrhoids, but it can also be a symptom of colon cancer. Bloody urine is usually the first sign of cancer of the bladder or kidneys, says Herbert Lepor, MD, a urologist at NYU’s Langone.

8. Between-Period Bleeding

If you’re still getting periods, tell your doctor if you’re spotting between them. Bleeding that’s not a part of your usual monthly cycle can have many causes, but your doctor will want to rule out endometrial cancer (cancer of the lining of your uterus).

Bleeding after menopause is never normal and should be checked right away.

9. Trouble Swallowing

Occasional trouble swallowing is nothing to worry about. But when it happens often, especially with vomiting or weight loss, your doctor may want to check you for throat or stomach cancer.

He’ll look into your symptoms with an an endoscopy (a lighted tube down your throat), a CT scan of your neck, chest, and abdomen or a barium X-ray. During a barium test, you drink a special liquid that makes your throat and stomach stand out on the X-ray.

10Weight Loss Without Trying

Most women wish extra pounds would magically melt away. But losing 10 pounds or more without a change in your diet or exercise habits could signal a problem.

Most unintended weight loss is notcancer, Meyers says. “It’s often caused by stress or your thyroid, but it can be a sign of pancreatic cancer,” she says. Other types of cancer such as colon, stomach and lung cancers are also possible.

11. Heartburn

Too much food, alcohol, or stress (or all three) can cause serious heartburn. Meyers suggests that you change your diet for a week or two to see if your symptoms get better.

If that doesn’t help, talk to your doctor. Heartburn that doesn’t go away or gets worse could mean cancer of the stomach, throat, or ovaries. Also, persistent heartburn can damage the lining of your esophagus and lead to a condition called Barrett’s esophagus. The condition raises the risk of developing throat cancer.

12. Mouth Changes

If you smoke, watch for yellow, gray, white or bright-red patches inside your mouth or on your lips. You could also develop a canker sore that looks like an ulcer with a crater in it. Any of these can signal oral cancer. Ask your doctor or dentist about tests and treatment.

13. Fever

A fever that doesn’t go away and can’t be explained could mean leukemia or another blood cancer. Your doctor should get the details of your medical history and give you a physical exam to check for the cause.

14. Fatigue

A lot of women are tired because they lead hectic lives. But extreme tiredness that won’t go away isn’t normal.

Symptoms and ways of preventing vaginal infection

Vaginal infections can be caused by bacteria, fungi, parasites or viruses growing in and around your vulva and vagina. Infections of your vagina and vulva can cause symptoms such as soreness and itchiness around your vulva and vagina, and an unusual vaginal discharge.

The three most common types of vaginal infection are yeast infections, bacterial vaginosis, and trichomoniasis. Some infections are caused by sexually transmitted diseases. Many, including yeast infections and bacterial vaginosis, result from a change in the vaginal environment.

Vaginal infections are caused by microorganisms, but women can take precautions, such as wearing loose, absorbent underwear, to reduce their risk of getting infections.

Most vaginal infections can be treated quickly and easily. Getting medical advice as soon as you notice a problem can help to get rid of your infection quickly and prevent complications. If you think you could have a sexually transmitted infection (if you’ve had unprotected sex with a new partner, for instance), it’s best to get checked out at a sexual health clinic.

Symptoms of common vaginal infections

Depending on the type of infection, you might have:

1. A white discharge from your vagina that looks like cottage cheese; alternatively you might have, or a thinner, white, green or yellow fishy-smelling discharge

2. itchiness or soreness in or around your vagina

3. pain when you have sex

4. pain when you pass urine

5. pain in your lower abdomen (tummy) or pelvis

6. bleeding between your periods or after you have sex

7. warts or ulcers around your vulva (the skin around the outside of your vagina)

These symptoms do not necessarily indicate an infection. Instead, they may result from other conditions that affect the vagina. For example, chemicals or other materials (such as hygiene products, bubble bath, laundry detergents, contraceptive foams and jellies, and synthetic underwear) can irritate the vagina and cause a discharge and discomfort. The inflammation that results is called noninfectious (inflammatory) vaginitis.

It’s normal and healthy for women to have some discharge from their vagina. The amount and colour of this discharge can change during your menstrual cycle, as you get older, when you take the contraceptive pill and when you’re pregnant. Sometimes, certain soaps, bath additives and vaginal douches (a type of prepared wash for your vagina) can cause inflammation of your vagina and changes in your discharge. But an abnormal unexplained change in the colour or smell of your vaginal discharge, along with other symptoms, can also be a sign of an infection.

A vaginal discharge may be caused by a disorder that affects other reproductive organs, rather than the vagina. For example, a discharge can result from certain sexually transmitted diseases such as chlamydial infection or gonorrhea. The bacteria that cause these diseases can spread from the vagina to the cervix (the lower, narrow part of the uterus that opens into the vagina) and the uterus, causing pelvic inflammatory disease.

Ways To Prevent Vaginal Infections

1. Keep yourself dry and clean

Wipe yourself dry after a bath or shower. Change out of your sweaty clothes or wet swimsuit as soon as you can. Yeast loves to grow in damp places.

2. Avoid perfumed deodorant sprays, scented tampons and vaginal douchesh, these may affect the delicate balance of yeast and bacteria in the vagina and cause yeast infections.

3. Relax and reduce stress

Some studies show a link between chronic stress and vaginal yeast infections. Stress lowers your body’s immune system. Exercise, meditation and getting enough sleep can relieve stress.

4. Wear cotton underwear

Candida thrives best in a damp environment. As cotton absorbs moisture and perspiration better, it helps keep yeast infections at bay.

5. Practise good personal hygiene

Make sure you wipe from front to back after visiting the bathroom to prevent bacteria from the anus travelling to the vagina.

6. Avoid tight-fitting jeans and pants

Stay cool, dry and airy in loose-fitting pants and jeans.

7. Take natural yogurt with live cultures

Antibiotics destroy good bacteria in the body. If you are on antibiotics, be sure to replenish the good bacteria by taking natural yogurt containing friendly bacteria such as lactobacillus acidophilus.

Five secrets you should never share with anyone or your close to avoid using it against you.

Almost every human being living in the world today have a skeleton in their closet which nobody knows of. We tend to keep them hidden from our friends, family and loved ones. But in some cases, our wish is for us to pour everything out just to be free as keeping some secret seem like a huge burden and somehow hinders us from going forward.

In a relationship, the type of information we tell with our partner may likely turn out to be disastrous because it may determine the nature of existence and longevity. It doesn’t really matter if you’re married or still courting, the reality is, there are some certain information about us that ought to be left untold. You ought not to ever reveal them to your partner regardless of how close you’re and what bonds you share together, they’re the kind of secret you take to your grave because once it is revealed, what ensues afterwards becomes unpredictable.

The truth is that not every partner is matured enough or ready enough to handle such secrets when revealed, so it’s advised you conceal such information to yourself as your partner’s attitude towards you may likely change or they may angrily break things off which wasn’t your initial intention once you decided to share.

Below, are the five most vital secrets you ought to never share with your partner no matter what.

1. Keep your past relationship away from your current partner.

A lot of women in their past relationships got rid of so many unwanted pregnancy because they weren’t ready to take care of any child at that point. Telling your current partner about the number of children you have terminated in the past isn’t something every man would accept easily, they may likely change the way they treat you or even end the relationship.

2. Never tell outsiders how good or weak your partner is in bed.

This is one among the main reasons we’ve seen many unhappy homes today. A secret like this should remain between you and your partner. As a wife, if you out there and keep bragging to your friends about how good your husband is in bed, it will definitely backfire one day, because your friends may begin to flirt with your husband behind her back so they can test too.

3. Don’t reveal to anyone how weak your partner is or how many times you quarrel in your relationship

Some people have this habit of bringing their marital life to the public without considering the negative effect and therefore, the harm it may later bring back to the family. regardless of how bad or worse your relationship/marriages may look, always keep it away from the general public. Present it to others as perfect while you settle issues from inside.

4. Don’t ever tell your mother-in-Law how bad she is.

This is one of the secrets that if you ever make it public, you will not just like the outcome of it, especially if the mother-in-laws in question is a jealous woman. Unless you have decided to live a life without peace and fights on a day to day basis in your own husband’s house, then please take this secret with you to your grave.

5. Keep your pastors faraway from your family disputes.

Even your pastor isn’t worthy to have knowledge of how many times you quarrel together with your husband/wife, because most of them will use your family issues as sermon while preaching in church. Take your problems to God alone.

Heed to these simple commandments and live in a peaceful relationship/marriage.
