Is there any truth to that saying? Why is it a lot of couples who decide to get married still end up getting divorced? Did they “not know” what they were doing?
Marriage is always tricky. A lot of people would say that it is the most significant form of commitment that you could ever give to another human being. Others say that it’s not all that it’s cracked up to be and that it’s a complete waste of time. Regardless of your stance on the issue, there’s no denying just how big of a social institution marriage is in this day and age. And long-term couples need to think about what they’re doing before they jump into making any commitments to one another.
How do you know when you’re just meant to get married to the guy you’re already with? Do you need to know almost instantaneously? Is it something that you can only come to know after a long period? There is no definitive answer. Some couples get married within just a few months of meeting one another, and they can make their marriages last. Some couples stay together for ten years before getting married only to have their marriages crumble into the ashes. There are always going to be exceptions to the rule, and that’s why it’s so hard to generalize.
However, specific patterns can emerge from couples with healthy relationships; certain trends will present themselves. If you find that a lot of these things apply to you and your partner, then the chances are that both of you are going to be spending the rest of your lives together.
1. He surprises you that a man like him even exists in this world.
You thought that you’d seen them all. You believe that you know what all men are like and that you can practically predict how they’re going to treat you. But he’s always different. He still has a way of surprising you – by proving himself to be someone who exceeds expectations.
2. He has a way of making you grow more and more attracted to him, the longer you stay together.
He is continuously making an effort to make you fall in love with him every day that you’re together. He doesn’t grow complacent. He knows that he always has to work at making sure that your love and affection for one another is still growing.
3. He makes you feel okay with contradicting and fighting him now and then.
He is never going to make you feel wrong about being honest. He is never going to make it seem like you should be guilty about disagreeing with him. He is always going to make you feel welcome to express yourself honestly and bluntly.
4. He makes you feel valued and appreciated all the time.
He is a man who understands the importance of expressing thanks and gratitude. He is always going to make sure that you know just how appreciative he is of your efforts. He wants you to know that he is never going to take you for granted.
5. He has specific quirks and eccentricities that you find appealing.
There are certain aspects to his personality, which other people might find weird and off-putting, but you happen to find them charming and unique. This is proof of excellent compatibility between the two of you wherein you can appreciate each other’s quirks.
6. He shows a willingness to compromise for you.
A man who always shows a willingness to compromise is a guy who is still going to be a great catch. He’s a guy who understands that he can’t be selfish if he genuinely wants to be with you. He shows a willingness to adjust so that he can meet you halfway and make things work with you.
7. He never does anything to make you doubt his commitment.
He is always going t pour all of himself into your relationship. He is still going to commit o you and make sure that you know how serious he is about being with you.
8. He shares similar plans for the future with you.
It’s always a good sign if he can envision a future where both of you are still together and happy. If you can share similar visions of the future, then that minimizes the potential friction that most couples have as the relationship gets deeper and deeper.
9. He makes you a better person because you’re together.
Ultimately, all relationships should always have a way of making the people in them better individuals overall. And if you’ve found a man who inspires and motivates you to be a better woman, a man who pushes you to live a life for yourself that you could never even dream of, then he’s a guy you can spend the rest of your life with.

The German quickly agreed a move to Chelsea after Liverpool baulked at his price.
Wayne Rooney does not believe Liverpool can convince an established star to play second fiddle to their first-choice front three and should target youngsters rather than the likes of Timo Werner.

Now former Manchester United frontman Rooney has suggested Liverpool need to adjust their thinking with regard to signing attacking reinforcements, instead bringing in a young understudy rather than the finished article.
Writing in his column for the Sunday Times, Rooney explained: ‘Transfers-wise, the one thing Liverpool could strengthen is their bench.
‘They could do with more back-up for that front three but passed on Timo Werner partly because they couldn’t offer a player of his calibre a starting position.
‘It’s a bit like the Harry Kane situation at Tottenham in that you would hesitate to join Spurs as a No 9 because you know you won’t play ahead of Kane.
‘Any forward approached by Liverpool will be thinking, “How am I going to get into that front three?” Top players don’t want to sit on anyone’s bench.
‘Maybe the solution for Liverpool is to get a brilliant young forward, like Manchester City did with Gabriel Jesus, who is willing to go there for a couple of seasons and learn.’

On Liverpool’s attack, Rooney added: ‘Their front three is a brilliant machine.
‘Roberto Firmino operates like Francesco Totti did at Roma, coming deep to allow — just as the opposition centre-backs relax — two fast, wide attackers to make diagonal runs into the space.
‘It must be horrible for full backs and midfielders playing against Mo Salah and Sadio Mane: you’d be constantly thinking, “Where are they?”’
Nigeria was not left out of the pandemonium that the pandemic caused. Nigerians were in panic mode when on February 27, it was announced that an Italian man who flew into the country tested positive for COVID-19.
From then on the panic snowballed into fear, anxiety and apprehension. As the number of COVID-19 cases increased, Nigeria had to lock down its capital and economic nerve centre to deal with the pandemic.

Four months after the first COVID-19 case, Nigerians are ignoring the virus. People are going about their daily business without taking safety precautions.
For many of us, it seems COVID-19 has disappeared into thin air. Businesses have opened, hotels are now operating and it is just a matter of time that religious centres and schools are back in business.
The care-free attitude of Nigerians does not reflect the COVID-19 numbers in the country. The daily updates from the NCDC suggest that Nigeria is now experiencing a second-wave.
While some Nigerians are indifferent about the rising numbers, others are concerned and are clamouring for the country so take the pandemic more seriously.

Tension heightened on Saturday’s night at the Ondo State Government House in Alagbaka, Akure after the Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi was prevented from leaving the Government House by the Commissioner of Police, Salami Bolaji.
DAILY POST gathered that the security operatives were acting out the order of the Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
The Deputy Governor was alleged to have looted government property from his lodge in his bid to take them to his personal house within the state capital.
The move against Ajayi was not unconnected to his planned defection from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, that is expected to take place today.
2. NAPTIP head office closes down for COVID-19 decontamination, workers go on leave.
Director-General, National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), Julie Okah-Donli, has ordered the closure of the agency’s head office for a week to enable full decontamination of the building.
The closure will be between June 22 and June 27.
Okah-Donli gave the directive in a statement signed by NAPTIP’s Head of Media and Publicity of, Mrs Stella Nezan, in Abuja.
3. President Buhari snubs Magu, gets Senate confirmation for 207 Appointees.
The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has been able to get the 9th Senate to confirm at least 207 appointees for him in the last one year of the existence of the current Senate.
The 207 already confirmed include judges, ministers, ambassadors, commissioners and heads of agencies.
However, Buhari has not considered the re-appointment of the acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Magu.
Magu was appointed by the President on November 9, 2015 subject to confirmation by the Senate. But he has remained in acting capacity since then.
He was rejected twice by the 8th Senate, under the leadership of Dr Bukola Saraki, based on a security report by the Department of State Services. He, however, remained in office.
Saraki’s tenure as Senate President was characterised by a frosty relationship between the Presidency and the National Assembly.
However, since the inauguration of the 9th Senate led by Ahmad Lawan on June 11, 2019, Buhari has sent the names of 200 individuals to the upper chamber for confirmation but has not sent that of Magu.
This is despite assurances by Lawan that the Senate would act swiftly if Magu’s name is forwarded to the Senate for approval.
When the Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee on Anti-Corruption, Itse Sagay, paid him a visit at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja on November 21, 2019, Lawan said there was no request before the 9th Senate for the confirmation of Magu.
4. Delta SSG, Information Commissioner test positive for Covid-19.
Secretary to the Delta State Government, Chiedu Ebie, and Commissioner for Information, Charles Aniagwu, have both tested positive for Coronavirus.
Revealing this on Sunday in a statement signed by Olisa Ifeajika, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, the two officials showed mild symptoms of the virus and consequently subjected themselves to the test, which returned positive.
While calling on residents of the state to adhere strictly to the COVID-19 protocols irrespective of status, Ifeajika noted that anyone could contract the virus.
The statement reads, “Let me advise all Deltans to as a matter of top priority always obey the COVID-19 protocols, which have been in public domain, so as to curb further spread of the pandemic. The fresh cases in our hands in Delta further testifies to the fact that COVID-19 is not a scam. It is real and people should take the issue of the virus and personal hygiene seriously.
“All our hospitals and isolation centres across the state are on 24 hours alert to receive any case(s) of Coronavirus or other health challenges.”
The SSG and the Information Commissioner had been in the frontline of the state’s COVID-19 Task Force responsible for managing the virus in the state and giving Deltans regular update on the pandemic.
Our correspondent reliably gathered that the two senior government officials have since been moved to an isolation centre in the state capital, Asaba, where they are said to be responding to treatment.
Governor Ifeanyi Okowa had on Friday raised the alarm and lamented the rate at which the figures of people tested positive were increasing in the state.
5. Petrol Tanker Goes up in flames on Kara bridge in Lagos State.
A petrol tanker went up in flames on Kara bridge in Lagos state today June 21.
The tanker was transporting petroleum products when some of its contents spilled on the road and a fire was ignited.
Shortly after Anita Joseph served haters and cyber bullies with a hot fiery dance with her waist, a troll threw shots at her but was quickly intercepted by her fans who returned the troll with a savage reply.

The Joint Admissions Matriculation Board (JAMB) yesterday released the cut-off marks the 2020/2021 admissions into Nigerian tertiary institutions. 160 was pegged as the cut-off mark for universities while 120 was pegged for polytechnics. For colleges of education, 100 was pegged as cut-off.
JAMB has been the body in charge of conducting matriculation examinations for admission seekers into all tertiary institutions in Nigeria for decades. This makes it a regulatory body. In fact, JAMB is the body which offers students admissions. Universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education are not the ones who do that.

That said, with University cut-off mark pegged at 160, what does that say about the standard of our education in Nigeria today? In explaining how JAMB arrived at the various cut-off marks, the Spokesman of JAMB, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, told The PUNCH that institutions were the ones who submitted their cut-off marks.
Hear him: “The institutions have submitted their cut-off points already from the pool of their submissions. It was like a vote. Over 100 submitted 200 and above as cut-off point, some submitted 180 and above, while a chunk submitted 160 and above.”

Until now, the lowest cut-off mark for Universities used to be 180. What has changed? Universities took pride in claiming to be citadels of excellence and academic rigour. Are we not losing all of that now?
For years, employers have bemoaned the low quality of graduates that are being churned out by our schools every year. Lowering admission criteria is definitely not unconnected to why this is happening. Nigerian graduates largely are nothing to write home about.

We will like to say here that it’s not their fault. All of this is a consequence of the terrible education they are being taught in our schools. The government has not given education its due attention and we wonder how Nigeria can attain growth and development when our education is nothing to write home about.
This is a wake up call for the Nigerian government and other stakeholders in our educational sector. 160 as cut-off mark for universities is ridiculous. The university is supposed to be a place of scholarship. It requires high cognition on the part of the student. But with a 160 score in JAMB, how do we expect such students to excel?
The popular Nigerian Actor Yul Edochie has reacted to the Death of the Former Miss Lux Ibidun Ajayi-Ighodalo.
Recall, that the 40-year old former Miss Lux died in her hotel in Port Harcourt, Rivers state on June 14. Reports stated that the CEO of Elizabeth R, a public relations and event management died of cardiac arrest.
The burial of ex-beauty queen and event planner, Ibidun Ajayi-Ighodalo, took place at the Vaults and Gardens cemetery in Lagos State yesterday, June 20 and the service was attended by her family members, inlaws, friends, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo state, deposed Emir of Kano Sanusi Muhammad II, and many others. Prayers were offered for the repose of her soul as well as for God’s protection for her husband, Pastor Ituah Ighodalo, their two children Keke and Zenan, her mother, her siblings as well as her work and the foundation she left behind.
Yul Edochie on reacting to her painful and sudden death took to his social media platform to share his own thoughts and how he feels about her sudden demise.
According to Yul, though he has never met her, but watching her videos brought tears to his eyes, as she was so full of life, full of love for humanity. He asked why feels there’s more to her death than the cardiac arrest story?
Yul added that if anyone took her life, he or she is going to face the Wrath of God. He said May her gentle soul Rest in Peace.
Popular Nigerian actress, Omoni Oboli took to her Instagram page on Sunday to recount how late Ibidunni Ighodalo was to assist her with adopting a baby girl.
