Breast cancer happens when the cells in the breast grows out of control. The breast is made up of three parts;
a. The Lobules: The Lobules produces the milk.
b. The Ducts: The Ducts are tubes that carry the milk to the nipples.
c. The connective tissue: The connective tissue holds everything together.
We have different types of breast cancer, but there are two major ones;
1. Invasive Lobular Carcinoma: The cancer cells starts from the Lobules and spreads to the tissues close to it. This kind of breast cancer can spread to different parts of the body.
2. Invasive Ductal Carcinoma: This type of breast cancer cells is outside. It starts from the duct and grows to the other breast tissues.
Some symptoms of breast cancer are:
1. Swelling of parts of the breast.
2. Redness in the nipples.
3. Pain in the nipple area.
4. Lump in the breast or armpit.
5. Nipple discharge.
6. Pain in the breast area.
These symptoms can also happen in other illnesses that are not breast cancer. So to be really sure,when you start having any of these signs visit a doctor.
So many factors causes breast cancer like family history,age, genetics and gender,these are factors we cannot control. There are other factors that increases the risk of having breast cancer,we can control.
Some of those things we can do to reduce the risk of breast cancer are:
1. Exercising: Most of us do not know how effective exercising can be. Exercise is very important to the body. Exercise not only keeps your weight in check,but also helps lower the risk of a person getting certain illnesses, like cancer.
2. Fruits and vegetables: Fruits and vegetables helps boost our immune system, which in turn helps fight off sickness and diseases. Regular consumption of fruits and vegetables helps reduce the risk of not just cancer but other diseases.
3. Avoid smoking: Smoking is your number one enemy. Smoking destroys the immune system, leaving the system weak and exposing it to certain illnesses and diseases. Smoking also cause bad teeth and a smelly breath,so avoid smoking by all means necessary.
4. Maintain a healthy weight: Being over weight, most times is bad for the health. Being over weight attracts lots of sickness to the body. It is always important to maintain a healthy weight.
