The Nigerian Ports Authority on Saturday introduced the profitable berthing in Onne Port, Rivers state, of the largest container ship to ever name at any Nigerian port.

The Maerskline Stardelhorn vessel with Size total of 300 metres, width of 48 metres was acquired on the Federal Ocean Terminal (FOT), at 1620 hours.

It has a capability of 9,971(TEUs) and is a flagship from Singapore.

In response to some reviews, the ship was diverted to Port Harcourt to decongest the Lagos ports.

A 31-year-old young man known as Okon Asuquo, who was involved in cannibalism at Odukpani Local Government Area in Cross River State, was arrested by the State Police Command in Calabar.

While at the Police Headquarters, footage of his killing and butchering someone in horrific and traumatic manner was re-played to the men of the press before being paraded today at the State Police Command in Calabar. 

When the arrested cannibal was being questioned by reporters, his expression was overwhelmed with awe on how someone was secretly recording him while carrying out the act of cannibalism. 

However, members of Odukpani’s community were also present at the Police Command in Calabar, cheering the new Commissioner of Police up for his gigantic effort and success being recorded in flushing out for arrest people terrorizing communities under Odukpani LGA.  

Meanwhile, his accomplice that assisted him in preparing charms being allegedly used on his victims was the one wearing a blue shirt and standing next to him in the photo above. 

It can be recalled that the apprehended men whose video went viral online for involvement in cannibalism with a video footage showing one of them butchering human into pieces for meal like someone butchering an animal.

Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has accused former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bode George, of deliberately reading meanings to his statement for political gains.

Naija News reports that Bode George had accused Fayode of saying Governor Godwin Obaseki will lose the forthcoming Edo State governorship election.

Bode George faulted Fayose’s claim, stressing that the governor was on his own.

“I find it completely unacceptable. How can a committed member who has benefited immensely from the party pitch his tenth against our own candidate in Edo State?

“I am countering such remarks by telling the people of Edo State that we, members of the PDP in the South-West, that we are in support of Obaseki. We pray for him and we will work and support him to win the election,” he had said.

But reacting in a post on his Twitter page, Fayose pointed out that he said it clearly that he believed “Obaseki will win, but he should honour
his agreement with the PDP by not returning to APC after assuming
office for the second term for flimsy excuses.”

The former Ekiti governor reminded Bode George of his
statement expressing his desire for PDP to lose the Ekiti, Osun and
Rivers States governorship elections.

Fayose wrote; “I just read the response of Chief Bode George to
his understanding of what I said concerning the Edo State election.

“Even though I won’t like to dignify him with a response, it is
important that I set the records straight because it appears that he
may have deliberately read different meanings to what I said obviously
because of Political gains he wants to make out of it and I careless.

“My position is that, for obvious reasons, I am not a fan of both Gov
Obaseki and Oshiomhole. That notwithstanding, I believe that Obaseki
will win, but he should honour his agreement with the PDP by not
returning to APC after assuming office for the second term for flimsy
excuses.

“It is equally important for Chief Bode George to know that I am not
the mouthpiece of South West PDP. I speak for myself and I take
responsibility for whatever I say.

“Above all, we still remember his negative statement concerning PDP
on Ekiti, Osun and Rivers States elections. We still have the audio
and it is a reference point that we will never forget.

“Pa Bode George should take a rest now.”

Kolade Balogun, a convicted internet fraudster, is to control traffic for three months.

He is also to pay a fine of N50,000.

Justice Sikiru Oyinloye of a Kwara State High Court, sitting in Ilorin, convicted Balogun, following his arraignment by the Ilorin Zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

According to the charge sheet brought against the convict by the anti-graft agency, “Kolade Balogun, (a.k.a William Davis, alias Bahemooth) sometimes in March 2020, or thereabout, at Ilorin, Kwara state within the jurisdiction of this honourable court, attempted to commit an offence of cheating by personation by pretending and representing yourself to be a Whiteman called William Davis, alias Bahemooth to unsuspected white woman on dating site called seeking arrangement as it is contained in your Gmail account, williamdavis@gmail.com and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 95 of the Penal code of Northern Nigeria.”

Balogun pleaded guilty when the charge sheet was read to him.

Prosecuting counsel, Aliyu Adebayo, in his submission, asked the court to convict the defendant based on his plea, proof of evidence, and exhibits tendered.

But defence counsel, Rotimi Oyagbola, urged the trial judge to temper justice with mercy, arguing that his client was a first offender.

In his judgement, Justice Oyinloye, said the prosecution had proved its case beyond reasonable doubt, considering the unchallenged and uncontradicted testimonies of the prosecution witness.

The judge said the convict should pay a fine of N50,000 and also control traffic at the junction behind the state Ministry of Physical Planning for three months, commencing from August 17 to October 17, 2020.

He further ordered that his items like phones and laptops recovered from him be forfeited to the Federal Government of Nigeria
