Senate President Ahmad Lawan spoke on Sunday about the leadership tussle within the secretariat of the All Progressives Congress, raising hope about its resolution.

Lawan spoke after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Aso Villa.

”I believe that we have to deal with these challenges, this is the ruling party with the president; with the control of the National Assembly; with more governors than any other political party.”

Lawan told newsmen that the situation should not, must not be allowed to degenerate further as ”the stability of APC is the stability of Nigeria; this is the party that is running the affairs of this country.

”So, I believe that we have to sort this out and that will make our work even better and easier when we have a stable party as the party is supposed to be part of the apparatus of running government.

”We are supposed to run or operate or implement or execute the manifesto of the party.

”And therefore the party is so key, so central, so essential to ensuring that government, whether on the executive or legislative side, continues to face those issues in the manifesto and of course the manifesto will be to make Nigeria better.”

Lawan challenged the leadership of the party across the country to make every possible effort to get the party reconciled.

He expressed optimism that ”by the grace of God in the next few days we will see certain actions will be taken and we are praying that all our leaders in the party across the country will make every possible effort to get the party reconciled”.

3. Oil workers threaten 3 days warning strike over IPPIS.

Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), and its Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), have threatened to embark on a three-day warning strike from Wednesday, over alleged forceful enrollment of members into the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS).

An official of PENGASSAN lamented that the oil workers’ unions had been meeting with the management of IPPIS over the matter for a long time without any head way, insisting that oil workers in the public sector have rejected IPPIS.

The letter to the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, dated June 19, 2020, was entitled: ‘Re: Enrollment of Federal Ministries, Departments and Agencies into the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System, IPPIS, reminder.

The letter of threat to strike over IPPIS, signed by General Secretary of PENGASSAN, Lumumba Okungbowa and General Secretary of NUPENG, Olawale Afolabi, called on the minister, Chief Timipre Sylva, to intervene in the matter and prevail on the Accountant-General of the Federation to desist from forcefully enrolling its members.

Ask For One Thing You Want God To Do For You Before This Year Ends

Don’t give yourself unnecessary headache looking for a man who doesn’t cheat on you.

A Facebook user has advised women to stop looking for a man who will not cheat in marriage because such will lead to headache.

According to him, “many married men are still enjoying the comforting bosoms of women other than their wives”.

He wrote:

“MARRIED MEN AND THEIR MISTRESSES!”
Dear Single Lady,
As you choose the right man to marry and as you prepare for marriage, don’t worry so much about a man that won’t cheat on you.
Don’t give yourself unnecessary headache looking for a man that will always be faithful to you.
You won’t find any!
Are all men cheats?
Are all married men unfaithful?
I don’t know.
One thing I know is that many married men are still enjoying the comforting bosoms of women other than their wives.
You and I know this.

I also know that you think men are thrash, wicked and heartless scum.
Whatever you think about men, you will still marry them. 😅
As we are busy having the morality conversation about cheating being wrong, cheating is still going on.
One thing is clear.
Many men cheat.
Another thing is clearer. Most men have not changed and won’t change.
I don’t think that they want to change at all!
If all the good Christian preaching in the churches scattered over every street in Africa hasn’t stopped men from cheating, nothing will.

One thing you should know is that cheating is good business for many women today, married or single.
Well, that is talk for another day.
What can you do?
Simple.

Adjust your expectations.
You do this by managing your happiness.
Sometimes, a problem cannot be solved. It can only be managed.
There are three ways to handle the matter of cheating really.
One, you pour a cheating man hot oil or stab him to death.
Two, you live a life of constant resentment over every man as you cry and talk about how the world is evil.
Three, you manage your happiness.
Number three is better.

Numbers one and two help no one.
When you understand that you cannot change men and men won’t change, you are freed up to focus on your happiness, whether he cheats or not.
As you prepare for marriage, don’t look for a man that won’t cheat on you.
That’s not practical.
Look for a man that will take care of you instead.
Then choose to be happy, whether he cheats or not.

I wrote clearly about this with a plan in my hot best seller book, 17 COSTLY MISTAKES WOMEN MAKE ABOUT MEN IN RELATIONSHIPS.
Get this book!

Don’t cancel the possibility of choosing a man for marriage because he cheated or will cheat on you.
There is no guarantee that you will find a man that won’t cheat on you.
If you need more guidance on this, quickly call or chat me up privately now”.

Wayne Rooney gives Liverpool transfer advice after Timo Werner snub.

The German quickly agreed a move to Chelsea after Liverpool baulked at his price.

Wayne Rooney does not believe Liverpool can convince an established star to play second fiddle to their first-choice front three and should target youngsters rather than the likes of Timo Werner.

The RB Leipzig striker looked certain to move to Anfield, but the coronavirus crisis significantly affected Liverpool’s spending power and meant they were no longer prepared to pay his £47.5million release clause.https://googleads.g.doubleclick.net/pagead/ads?client=ca-pub-1883810847636355&output=html&h=316&slotname=8228856220&adk=1635352823&adf=2524900500&w=379&fwrn=7&lmt=1592747125&rafmt=11&psa=1&guci=2.2.0.0.2.2.0.0&format=379×316&url=https%3A%2F%2Fcdn-af.feednews.com%2Fnews%2Fdetail%2F1801f3e703c40aaa3e60d0103847a12c%3Fclient%3Dnews%26country%3Dng%26features%3D34359738287%26lang%3Den%26language%3Den%26low_perf%3Dfalse%26mode%3Dbody%26swdp%3D411%26uid%3D59ea195a14c73245908b3459860979f93f145498&flash=0&wgl=1&adsid=NT&dt=1592747125723&bpp=47&bdt=2966&idt=-M&shv=r20200610&cbv=r20190131&ptt=9&saldr=aa&abxe=1&cookie=ID%3D7a0edd4b4b51a469%3AT%3D1592746416%3AS%3DALNI_Ma2tCsy1_K7-Cndaltg61KFu4f9YA&crv=1&prev_fmts=0x0&nras=1&correlator=5840488684241&frm=20&pv=1&ga_vid=63536391.1592746327&ga_sid=1592747125&ga_hid=1919343324&ga_fc=0&iag=0&icsg=2632447&dssz=13&mdo=0&mso=0&rplot=4&u_tz=60&u_his=1&u_java=0&u_h=892&u_w=412&u_ah=892&u_aw=412&u_cd=24&u_nplug=0&u_nmime=0&adx=16&ady=691&biw=412&bih=719&scr_x=0&scr_y=0&eid=42530493%2C42530495&oid=3&pvsid=3782016222109003&pem=714&rx=0&eae=0&fc=1924&brdim=0%2C0%2C0%2C0%2C412%2C0%2C412%2C719%2C412%2C719&vis=1&rsz=%7C%7CoEe%7C&abl=CS&pfx=0&fu=8336&bc=31&ifi=1&uci=a!1&fsb=1&xpc=ejmT964lx6&p=https%3A//cdn-af.feednews.com&dtd=64

Chelsea had not such concerns, though, with Frank Lampard swooping in to snatch Werner from under the nose of Jurgen Klopp, with the west London club confirming the deal last week.

Now former Manchester United frontman Rooney has suggested Liverpool need to adjust their thinking with regard to signing attacking reinforcements, instead bringing in a young understudy rather than the finished article.

Writing in his column for the Sunday Times, Rooney explained: ‘Transfers-wise, the one thing Liverpool could strengthen is their bench.

‘They could do with more back-up for that front three but passed on Timo Werner partly because they couldn’t offer a player of his calibre a starting position.

‘It’s a bit like the Harry Kane situation at Tottenham in that you would hesitate to join Spurs as a No 9 because you know you won’t play ahead of Kane.

‘Any forward approached by Liverpool will be thinking, “How am I going to get into that front three?” Top players don’t want to sit on anyone’s bench.

‘Maybe the solution for Liverpool is to get a brilliant young forward, like Manchester City did with Gabriel Jesus, who is willing to go there for a couple of seasons and learn.’

On Liverpool’s attack, Rooney added: ‘Their front three is a brilliant machine.

‘Roberto Firmino operates like Francesco Totti did at Roma, coming deep to allow — just as the opposition centre-backs relax — two fast, wide attackers to make diagonal runs into the space.

‘It must be horrible for full backs and midfielders playing against Mo Salah and Sadio Mane: you’d be constantly thinking, “Where are they?”’

COVID-19: Still a serious concern or just a hype.

It’s obvious that this year has been significantly impacted by COVID-19.

The world was in a panic as COVID-19 spread from country to country, grounding airlines and shutting down economies.https://googleads.g.doubleclick.net/pagead/ads?client=ca-pub-1883810847636355&output=html&h=316&slotname=8228856220&adk=2284129001&adf=11791422&w=379&fwrn=7&lmt=1592746892&rafmt=11&psa=1&guci=2.2.0.0.2.2.0.0&format=379×316&url=https%3A%2F%2Fcdn-af.feednews.com%2Fnews%2Fdetail%2F7556bc8b788c69c51291e0aeeaaed197_ng%3Fclient%3Dnews%26country%3Dng%26features%3D34359738287%26lang%3Den%26language%3Den%26low_perf%3Dfalse%26mode%3Dbody%26swdp%3D411%26uid%3D59ea195a14c73245908b3459860979f93f145498&flash=0&wgl=1&adsid=NT&dt=1592746892461&bpp=31&bdt=3458&idt=-M&shv=r20200610&cbv=r20190131&ptt=9&saldr=aa&abxe=1&cookie=ID%3D7a0edd4b4b51a469%3AT%3D1592746416%3AS%3DALNI_Ma2tCsy1_K7-Cndaltg61KFu4f9YA&crv=1&prev_fmts=0x0&nras=1&correlator=3160148936447&frm=20&pv=1&ga_vid=63536391.1592746327&ga_sid=1592746892&ga_hid=1607285174&ga_fc=0&iag=0&icsg=10529023&dssz=15&mdo=0&mso=0&rplot=4&u_tz=60&u_his=1&u_java=0&u_h=892&u_w=412&u_ah=892&u_aw=412&u_cd=24&u_nplug=0&u_nmime=0&adx=16&ady=472&biw=412&bih=719&scr_x=0&scr_y=825&eid=42530493%2C42530495&oid=3&pvsid=4196198581985183&pem=714&rx=0&eae=0&fc=1924&brdim=0%2C0%2C0%2C0%2C412%2C0%2C412%2C719%2C412%2C719&vis=1&rsz=%7C%7CoEe%7C&abl=CS&pfx=0&fu=8336&bc=31&ifi=1&uci=a!1&fsb=1&xpc=CHoo49a6Zh&p=https%3A//cdn-af.feednews.com&dtd=61

Nigeria was not left out of the pandemonium that the pandemic caused. Nigerians were in panic mode when on February 27, it was announced that an Italian man who flew into the country tested positive for COVID-19.

From then on the panic snowballed into fear, anxiety and apprehension. As the number of COVID-19 cases increased, Nigeria had to lock down its capital and economic nerve centre to deal with the pandemic.

On a daily basis, Nigerians held their breath for the updates from the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC). As numbers increased so did the fear in Nigerians.

Four months after the first COVID-19 case, Nigerians are ignoring the virus. People are going about their daily business without taking safety precautions.

For many of us, it seems COVID-19 has disappeared into thin air. Businesses have opened, hotels are now operating and it is just a matter of time that religious centres and schools are back in business.

The care-free attitude of Nigerians does not reflect the COVID-19 numbers in the country. The daily updates from the NCDC suggest that Nigeria is now experiencing a second-wave.

While some Nigerians are indifferent about the rising numbers, others are concerned and are clamouring for the country so take the pandemic more seriously.

Which side do you fall on? Do you think COVID-19 should be a concern or do you think at this point it is overhyped?

Tension heightened on Saturday’s night at the Ondo State Government House in Alagbaka, Akure after the Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi was prevented from leaving the Government House by the Commissioner of Police, Salami Bolaji.

DAILY POST gathered that the security operatives were acting out the order of the Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.

The Deputy Governor was alleged to have looted government property from his lodge in his bid to take them to his personal house within the state capital.

The move against Ajayi was not unconnected to his planned defection from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, that is expected to take place today.

3. President Buhari snubs Magu, gets Senate confirmation for 207 Appointees.

The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has been able to get the 9th Senate to confirm at least 207 appointees for him in the last one year of the existence of the current Senate.

The 207 already confirmed include judges, ministers, ambassadors, commissioners and heads of agencies.

However, Buhari has not considered the re-appointment of the acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Magu.

Magu was appointed by the President on November 9, 2015 subject to confirmation by the Senate. But he has remained in acting capacity since then.

He was rejected twice by the 8th Senate, under the leadership of Dr Bukola Saraki, based on a security report by the Department of State Services. He, however, remained in office.

Saraki’s tenure as Senate President was characterised by a frosty relationship between the Presidency and the National Assembly.

However, since the inauguration of the 9th Senate led by Ahmad Lawan on June 11, 2019, Buhari has sent the names of 200 individuals to the upper chamber for confirmation but has not sent that of Magu.

This is despite assurances by Lawan that the Senate would act swiftly if Magu’s name is forwarded to the Senate for approval.

When the Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee on Anti-Corruption, Itse Sagay, paid him a visit at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja on November 21, 2019, Lawan said there was no request before the 9th Senate for the confirmation of Magu.

The fresh cases in our hands in Delta further testifies to the fact that COVID-19 is not a scam. It is real and people should take the issue of the virus and personal hygiene seriously.

“All our hospitals and isolation centres across the state are on 24 hours alert to receive any case(s) of Coronavirus or other health challenges.”

The SSG and the Information Commissioner had been in the frontline of the state’s COVID-19 Task Force responsible for managing the virus in the state and giving Deltans regular update on the pandemic.

Our correspondent reliably gathered that the two senior government officials have since been moved to an isolation centre in the state capital, Asaba, where they are said to be responding to treatment.

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa had on Friday raised the alarm and lamented the rate at which the figures of people tested positive were increasing in the state.
