A video clip of President Muhammadu Buhari speaking to a journalist has been trending on social media for the wrong reasons.
The founder of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore, alleged that Buhari’s response didn’t tally with the question asked by the reporter.
The journalist asked the president about his personal feelings concerning the allegations of corruption trailing the Niger Delta Development Commission and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in recent times.
In return, Buhari gave an overview of his anti-graft war which many believe was slightly off point.
“There has been abuse of trust by people trusted, by the previous administration. A number of assets are being recovered and some money. But we have introduced TSA (Treasury Single Account), where all the monies are taken. And I said assets should be sold and the money out through TSA, so that it can be identified at any level. And I will see who will come after us and take it back again to those who misappropriate public funds” Buhari said.
Sharing the video on Twitter, Sowore said Buhari has lost control of his cognitive function as he tweeted:
“No country should be burdened with a leader who’s lost COMPLETE control of his COGNITIVE functions, @Mbuhari
has lost ALL! His ANSWERS no longer match QUESTIONS, you could see how his muppets led by @GarShehu is motioning to ask reporters to CUT! #RevolutionNow #August5th”
This has caused a massive debate online with many criticizing the publisher for insulting the president.
