– Relationships – Dating is a fun and often laid-back experience. There’s something exciting about getting to know somebody, with no pressure to ever see them again if you don’t desire. Once you step into the relationship game, everything changes. It’s far more demanding emotionally, financially & time-wise. No need to rush it. Take it slow and make sure you two are a correct fit before committing long-term.
– Big decisions – A lot of people like to live by the ‘hell yes or no’ aphorism. While there’s certainly value to saying no when something doesn’t excite you, sometimes we need to take more time when the consequences of a decision are immense. By giving it time, we can let our emotions fade and ultimately select the option that is most logical.
– Writing – As I sit here composing this answer, there’s a sense of urgency. As if I need to complete this write-up quickly. That’s merely not true. I could take an hour, being very precise with my words and that would be perfectly okay. Sometimes a deadline can create pressure which motivates us to rush and ultimately produce a product that is less than par. I prefer to be diligent and take my time with this craft.
– Sex – Unless you’ve got a meeting in 30 minutes and need to bust a…move, enjoy it. No need to rush one of the most enjoyable experiences us humans have.
– Eating – When we eat slower, we are more likely to realize we are full before finishing everything before our eyes. This can help individuals who are hoping to lose weight. It’s also beneficial to take the time to taste the food you are consuming. Think about where it came from & how it was prepared. Mindful eating can help us eat healthier—both in terms of food quality and portion size.
– Investing – About a year ago my buddy was telling me all about Bitcoin. Now, I had heard plenty about Bitcoin but wasn’t keeping up with the cryptocurrency market like he was. He told me about the app called Coinbase and naturally, I downloaded it. It was so simple to link up my bank account. Next thing you know, I was invested. A proud owner of .000001 Bitcoin. Okay, maybe a little more than that…but trust me, it’s been a bad deal. I should’ve taken my time and talked to more people before throwing down.
– Gifts – I’ve spent a great deal of time lately looking for Christmas gifts. In general, my family’s philosophy is ‘less is more’ when it comes to the holidays. We’ve always exchanged, but sort of in a minimalistic way. For some reason, I’ve felt compelled to spend more money than I should this year. Perhaps it’s because of all the support my parents have given me throughout the years. Maybe I’m just really feeling the love in 2018. Whatever it may be, it’s caused me to be very invested in the gift-giving process. And in taking my time finding the right gift(s) for each person, I’ve come across some incredible deals and items. Don’t buy the first option that pops up. Give it time.
